It's Electrifying

Work got off to a flying start and everything was very positive. Even in the midst of winter, the Irish weather didn't let us down and it stayed pretty dry. Well dry enough for the roof to be started.

Though I do remember it being pretty chilly so thoughts we with the roofers out in the elements. I believe neighbours were offering warm drinks.
Walls were coming down inside and things like the electrics were being checked.
When we were clearing out the annexe we did discover that the electrics were not in a good state see picture below.

This prompted Rob to disconnect the electrics in the cottage for safety reasons. All connections were cut off.
We had felt a little easier about the electrics after this.
However, the bathroom in the newer build did not have an extractor fan. With all of the problems with the mushrooms we had in the bathroom we put one in . Not an easy job. Due to the wiring.
We fitted the extractor and it just kept tripping.
Rob spent days trying to figure it out but the wiring was confused. So we had to just have the window open as our extractor .
One morning, I got up to make a cuppa before work. Put the kettle on the electrics tripped.
I checked the fuse box and flipped back the fuse that had tripped. Put the kettle on again, and again the electrics tripped.
I went to work (not good without a cuppa ) . And left Rob to puzzle it out. I had a message at about 11 an to say he was going to call an electrician as couldn't find the problem.
Before he did this he had one last thing to try which was to pull out the dishwasher. Only to find the kitchen sink was leaking directly on to the electric point for the dishwasher. We were unaware that this electric point had been set directly under the sink. So there was our problem. This was disconnected. And the leak was fixed. And again the area left to dry out.
The fix was temporary until our work started.
We lived in some fear of the electrics. And it was hardly surprising. Looking at the picture below.

The question was asked . What sort of creature were we living with? .. what size was the creature ? its a bit unnerving that we were living alongside unknown things that would do this.
We do live in farmland so critters are to be expected in some shape or form but this was bit of a shock. ( No pun intended ) be aware of who or what you are living with. No wonder the electrics were dodgy and very dangerous.
I can't deny it was a bit of a relief to move out knowing when we come back it will be safe.
'even if we didn't end up where we thought .we always end up where we are meant to be '
